EDIT: Thank you to JC for commenting, apparently there is a bypass for using this with NCSoft Games. So if you find yourself fed up with PMB and want a way around it. Check out his post here, or in his comment. I’d really like to point out that they advertise that PMB is for “Faster Speeds” yet I find myself only downloading their patches at about 1.5MB/s, when normally I can download directly from them for 4MB/s. Is it cause PMB is a horrible program? Or just because, ya know, no one wants to actually let it run and leach their bandwidth. You decide.
For my first complaint, I feel it only right to point out something that I find very wrong. Lately I’ve been playing a lot of free to play games, and I mean a lot. Most of these games use a program called Pando Media Booster (here on out to be noted as PMB) to deliver their content. Things like patches, expansions, or just the whole entire game. Now this would be fine if it was just that. However it isn’t.

What PMB does is share content over the internet as a sort of peer-to-peer program. It gets installed on your system then you install whatever game or update by downloading from other users. You can think of this almost as a torrent service. Sure this sounds great right? So what could possibly be wrong? Well the fact that for most games that use it, they don’t even notify you that its being installed. Most recognizably with games like League of Legends back when they used it (they still might, not sure), and Lord of the Rings Online. When you went to install the game PMB was installed without your knowledge. Then continues to run in the background so that it may deliver content to other players without you actually knowing about it.
What ends up happening is you notice that your connection is severely limited and anything that you try doing online ends up at a dead crawl. If you are not fortunate enough to have an unlimited bandwidth from your ISP then this will also be a huge issue for you as you may be stuck with a huge bill at the end of the month because this program was using up all your bandwidth.
The other thing that the program does is collect information about you based on your browsing history. What you don’t know is that the program also installs a plugin for Firefox and Internet Explorer which takes information about your browsing history so that the company that uses PMB knows what you look at. Now even if you agreed to allow PMB to be installed as I had to do with Lineage II and AION it sure as hell didn’t say anything about a plugin to gather information. Because I assure you I wouldn’t agree to something like that. However if you go onto the PMB website there they advertise all about it like it’s some great feature. Thats an invasion of privacy and I don’t need anybody knowing about my browsing habits.
To me the only way to classify such program is as malware. Clark yardlift 150 forklift manual. It was forcefully installed on my system without my knowledge (I’ve had it install without my knowledge in the past) collects data about me, then sends it off to who knows. That my friends in malware and shouldn’t be on any system regardless if it’s an actual legit program or not.
Now you might ask well then what should they use?

Sure I understand that times are tough and their now giving these games away for free so they need to save money, one way of doing so is by going alternate routes to deliver their content. However going with PMB has the possibility of saving them money, but at the same time it could also hurt them by restricting their money. Some people like myself do not like nor trust PMB and refuse to play any game that uses such program, or if I’m forced to use it I’ll refuse to use any pay service that they may have so that they don’t get any of my income. I’m not going to allow PMB to use my bandwidth for such things. I get my updates when they come, then immediately delete said program.
The solution to this is torrents, yes torrents can be used for more things than just Linux distros. There are tons of high-end companies that use a torrent system for their patches. One big company that comes to mind is Blizzard. Your free to leach and seed the patch as long as you want, they even have it so it uploads in the background while your playing the game at a very low rate. You can turn it off if you don’t want to be running, or you just don’t have the bandwidth to give. Personally I leave it running while I play so that I can help others. I’m actively allowing them to use some of my bandwidth for others, I’m not forced to do anything and they aren’t collecting any information about me.

A simple link to a .torrent file is all they would need for their patches, have one or two servers provide the initial seed then let their community seed the rest. It’s so simple that any company could do this, and should.
So dear game companies, please stop using Pando Media Booster it violates any respect that I have for you and puts me off to ever giving you any of my money for any service or item that you may have.

Here is a list of games that I currently know uses or has used PMB.
League of Legends, Lord Of the Rings Online, Aion, Lineage II, APB Reloaded, Games by Outspark, Nexon, and OGplanet. Dungeons and Dragons Online, Star Trek Online, Maple Story, Flyff Balli sastram in telugu for male pdf download.
Needless to say there are tons of games that use this program that shouldn’t nor need to.
Know of more games? Think I’m wrong? Leave me a comment! I’d really like to hear what you have to say.
