  1. I always delete my zip file after I have extracted the files inside. Or if I do think I want to save it, I will save them on another hard drive, so that I can get them again, should I need to (usually I never need to). I tend to save my files by designer, so I can give credit to them when I make something from one of their files.
  2. The answer is yes. You can delete the.pkg/.dmg/.zip file after installing the app. It will not affect the app as both files are different. These packages are just containers.

In most cases,.PKG files are used for drivers. After installation, you have to delete.PKG files, but you will definitely not do it, thus clogging you hard drive over time. Of course, if you`re used to saving all your files in the same place, then finding and removing them will be easy.

I'm going to be changing over to the new pkgng management system (ports-mgmt/pkg), but I had a question about the older pkg_delete command.
I've used pkg_delete to delete a package and it removes the binaries and libraries asociated with the package, but I notice it doesn't remove everything. I see see files in /usr/local/man or /usr/local/share that are part of the package that I deleted. I thought pkg_delete was suppose to delete every file that is associated with the package that you delete.
BTW: The pkg_info command confirms that the package is deleted, but what about all these other files that stay on your hard drive.
